Kyle is a subtropical climate which is characterized by humid and hot summers with temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 90’s and mild winters when temperatures tend to be in the 50’s and 60’s.  Typically the hottest months of the year are July and August with an average maximum temperature reaching 95 degrees, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature reaching 36 degrees.  Temperature variations throughout the year remain moderate with daytime maximums and night time minimums only ranging 23 degrees difference.  The average annual rainfall of Kyle is 35 inches per year.

Local Activities and Notable Landmarks

Kyle is close to many great activities and places to visit for all ages:

  • Central Texas Speedway:  This track features several classes of cars in side-by-side racing on one of the best short tracks in Texas.  CTS is a great concert venue with many options.
  • Enchanted Rock Natural Area:  Just North of Fredericksburg, this natural rock formation is one of the largest in the United States with a dome rising 425 feet above the ground.  This is a National Natural Landmark Designated landmark, and Enchanted Rock is part of the Texas State Parks system.
  • Lost Maples State Natural Area:  This area of Texas has some of the greatest color variation in the state for tree foliage every fall around October and November.  It has a high density of maple trees, hence the name Lost Maples.
  • Cascade Caverns:  This landmark offers visitors a look underneath the surface of the Texas Hill Country.  The temperature of the cave system is 68 degrees year round, making it the perfect summer get away.  This cave also has an underground waterfall, and is a must see.
  • Natural Bridge Caverns:  This underground cave system offers the family a glimpse of the world not seen.  Complete with tours, the cave offers a number of educational opportunities for kids of every age.
  • Longhorn Cavern State Park:  While hiking and sightseeing are the primary activities of this park today, this cavern was home to Comanche Indians, Confederate Soldiers, and even an outlaw or two.  The state park offers tours and educational opportunities as well.
